Aruma Split Garden, completed in 2024, is a multi-level hospitality project in Jakarta, Indonesia, designed by RAD+ar (Research Artistic Design + architecture). This innovative development addresses the challenges of rising land values by utilizing a split-level design to create distinct zones within a compact footprint, seamlessly integrating nature into the built environment.
The project features a thoughtful arrangement of spaces, including restaurants on the ground floor, a bar in the mezzanine, and a beer garden extending to the rooftop. The building's north-south orientation preserves existing greenery and enhances natural ventilation by creating a wind tunnel effect between two large trees at either end of the site. Structural elements are integrated into the spatial planning, allowing for seamless transitions between different areas and fostering a cohesive design.
Sustainability is a core principle of the Aruma Split Garden. The design minimizes material usage and energy consumption through efficient construction techniques and the selection of sustainable finishing materials. Gardens are strategically placed between spaces to ensure smooth connections between different materials and components, enhancing the overall user experience.
Aruma Split Garden exemplifies RAD+ar's commitment to integrating functionality, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility. By creating a harmonious relationship between various aspects of design, the project serves as a model for sustainable urban development in high-density areas.
